Midas Milbury Farm development Exminster

Just an update to let residents know l have officialy written to Communitys Secretary of State Eric Pickles to revoke the Midas  Development  on the grounds that new Goverment criteria ie Localism Bill renders this unrequired, unwanted ( by all three relevant Councils), and flawed development  irelevant, l will keep everyone posted upon their repsonse.

I have also gone on record officialy with Teignbridge District Council in relation to their Core Strategy,LDF that l oppose further developments in Exminster until the issue of Infrastructure is met financially which currently it is not with paltry finance obtained from current 106 agreements!

However with the New Governments Local ism Bill hope through its suggested 106 replacement the CIL  Community Imposed levy  ( £5,000 per property!) this seems a  way forward for underfunded and, commercially  plundered Communities like Exminster to fund the necessary School. pre School. Doctors surgeries  expansions necessary with further  housing demands.

The New Convex road safety mirror is waiting for funding from my Community Fund     it will be probably January 11 when with the kind offer of a local Builder and my  loyal assistant John Goody l will be able  to install it at the troubled  Westfield area of Exminster, something  l have been campaigning for  prior to my election in Nov 08!

I will shortly be approaching Teignbridge District council to   waive my entitlement to travel allowance to all the Main District Council meetings , l feel this is only decent and, correct in these very austere times when  residents are all facing increasingly difficult financial constraints! ( saving around  £120/200er yr ), some of my Councillor colleagues already decline perhaps all will follow this example!?

Thankyou for now Councillor kevin.A.Lake.

Teignbridge District Council Recycling News!

Dear Residents,

It was with great pleasure  after asking many questions along this issue to the team  at Teignbridge  that  they now can announce that plastic bottles can now be recycled through the green bin supplied great news for landfill!

I know many felt it not always possible to travel distances to the nearest recycling bins  for these articles so many ended up in black bins ( landfill).

I hope my little lobbying helped in this coming about, l must congratulate Teignbridge District Council and, its team/ Department responsible for their great achievements in this area ranking our authority amongst the best in the Country something we all should be proud of .

Lastly l know Councillor Gordon Hook has played a key role in recycling and, its achievements  and, must be applauded for his involvement.   Lets hope in the not to distant future all plastics incl that supermarket wrapping is all accepted

Thank you.

Crablake Farm composting issue.

Dear Residents,  You will know l have been very active in opposition to this operation using  Exminster Hill which is unsuitable.                Latest news is with my constant lobbying of Devon County Council on this issue the applicant is possibly applying shortly for a new source of this material ( currently Marsh barton ) from  Kenbury Woods, the route already  approved by on site visits from both Highways officers and DCC officers would possibly be along the old dwalish road, then  A379 halfing the ammount needing to  access the village l will keep everyone informed as it progresses.                                        Also those at the difficult to  exit   Westfield Estate l have been badgering way at DCC for some kind of Traffic measures to make exiting from this area easier and, less dangerous.       At last l have made a little headway, l can out of my shrinking community fund hopefully purchase a perspex convex mirror to be mounted on private land, a resident here has offered such a site, a local builder has offered free services to mount it!  lam awaitinf prices from another parish council who source this type of item once  asertained l will hopefully have one in place by the close of the year latest! which l hope will make residents lives here a little safer, DCC will not object providing they do not have to fund it, maintain it, or site it and it is on private land.    keep watching Councillor Kevin.A.Lake

Achievements Since Elected, November 2008

I thought as l am now getting to grips slowly with technology's such as my blog  l should let everyone know my   results so far in response to  residents  approaches and. pleas  for assistance.

(1)  Miller way two issues one being state of trees health which l quickly obtained a check by Teignbridge District Council  to allay fears of nearby residents. Second being disappearance whole scale of trees on motorway embankment which acted as a traffic noise screen it appeared ominous but  questions asked revealed  they had to be felled due to poor root conditions and dangers of falling onto carriageway, however they did  present apologies to residents for lack of communications and noise at night during works.

Berrybrook meadow, after 8 months of liaison got  developer Redrow homes despite legal discussions with Teignbridge District Council over handing over area to agree to a clear up of their side of offending bank, whilst  getting the parish Council who own the other side of the bank to clear that side of overgrown vegetation etc thus reducing flood risk in wet conditions etc, my then prospective MP Mel Stride helped in an initial clear up where we pulled from the bank an old pram for one!

Lately in response to complaints from residents l have  through again protracted negotiations got the Environment agency to get the owner to clear two blockages on their land one under the bridge this should be done soon. The railway station reopening a very popular sensible option in the village  is gaining  pace Devon County Council is to include it in their overall area feasibility study of  viability a definite positive move keep watching.

The Village road safety scheme not all things to everyone and not ideal has resulted in slower traffic movements so my campaigning in this achieved with the PC  a safer village centre more is still to be done addressing the double crossing point for children by Exminster garage but one. The result of a cul-de-sac no through sign upon the Glebelands estate entrance as a result of please from residents was a swift Teignbridge District Council response which l hope helps them.

The complete renovations of all Exminster's Bus stops (vandalised or just worn) l hope with my community fund helping to pay largely for that  l hope makes it a little more pleasant for  waiting passengers a big thank you again to Stagecoach who donated £500 as well.     The campaigning against the Mobile phone mast  near Farm House Rise and  Reddaway Drive resulted in the company listening and agreeing to move it! subsequent  merger put it on hold.

Many planning applications have been presented to me for help from Townsington barns to Yeos Farm Dunchideok   all have successfully been taken against officer regimentation to committee at Teignbridge District Council and won good news for the applicants, on the other side l am  still opposing applications l feel are detrimental at Willhayes, and others.

I have made many donations from my community fund towards:

( 2 ) Exminster Youth Club, Exminster Summerplay scheme, Coffee on the corner,Dunchideok Parish Hall, Shillingford Village Hall, Ide  for dog bin and CCTV in their community shop car park, and many others all helping in a small way for things to happen.

I strongly opposed absorption into Exeters Unitary  designs and fought for Exminster to remain in Teignbridge . Bus stops have been also renovated at Kennford and, drainage brooks cleared of debris, as well as Wheelie bins provided for new residents lam also keeping an eye on the safer provision of a footpath for residents avoiding the dangerous one adjacent to the  A30, this will result from a proposed development in the adjacent farm perhaps in the future at some point if the hard working PC achieve this aim.

I have been active too on many issues  sometimes not always popular with everyone concerned but people know me by now that i act if something is right in principle only.

I will add more info  on a more regular basis  to keep all my ward  informed, thank you.

Midas Milbury Farm Development Exminster

Just to let everyone know l have set up a meeting with the Teignbridge District Council Planning Officer next Thursday, to look in detail at the poorly produced plans so far from Midas. This follows my concerns and, many many residents still over issues of design, overlooking, density around its borders, lack of provisions for Community, health care etc etc l will keep posted as developments occur.

I HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED OFFICIALLY MY RESOLUTION TO OBJECT TO ANY FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS ON TEIGNBRIDGE'S  CORE STRATEGY DOCUMENT (LDF)  TO PUT IT ON RECORD.

Sentrys Orchard

Just to let concerned residents know along with the Parish Council l have on record with Teignbridge District Council policy planning department (core strategy) that l oppose any further developments in and, around  Exminster unless the core issues of infrastructure are addressed as paramount.

I have also arranged prior to the next Parish Council meeting where Belway Homes representative is coming along to present (not public) to meet ahead of this with their  Manager to express my concerns.
